Poster Pocket Plants

Tuesday, 29 September 2009

Great project called Poster Pocket Plants created by two boys wanting to reclaim and create in their urban environment. Makes a welcome change from adverts galore! See more pics here

Laura Cooperman // papercuts

Just when I thought I'd seen as many paper cuts as I could take for one year, I discovered Ohio artist Laura's online portfolio. So intricate and beautiful are her paper cuts that they're pinned together in formation... I particularly love the amazing moving pieces and their shadowy friends.

Keel's Simple Diaries

Monday, 28 September 2009

Taschen books have brought out this multi-coloured range of diaries for the lazy journal writer! As they so rightly state their case: (1) Not every day is very eventful. (2) It actually takes a lot of discipline - regarding 1 even more so. (3) In retrospect, many find what they have written quite embarrassing..... so as an alternative, this diary instead probes your silly side! It would be much more a chuckle to read back than your average diary too...

3191: Evenings

I want to live inside this book! It's the follow on from 'A year of Mornings' and this time is aptly called 3191: Evenings (to be released mid-October) I love the story behind it too... 2 friends (Maria Alexandra Vettese of Lines and Shapes, and Stephanie Congdon Barnes) 3191 miles apart, uploading and sharing photos everyday of the year - first mornings and now nights... love that!

Small Adventures // Felt wrapping

They should make international postpacks like this lovely felted one brought to you by Small Adventures... such a good idea!

The world of Junzo Terada looks such a merry one and every single postcard in this is worthy of a frame...also found this journal which is cutesticks too!

Fingerprint Volume 2 // Call for Entries

Oooo... exciting opportunity for anybody who is handy with their glue stick and mitts in the world of design and illustration. Its the follow on from the inspiring book 'Fingerprint: The Art of Using Handmade Elements in Graphic Design' and is bound to be as big a bundle of goodness as the first one was. Go here to download an entry form (closes October 15th, 2009)

Third Drawer Down // Decal Delights

Wednesday, 23 September 2009

Following on from todays print of the day (also from Third Drawer Down) are these joyful little decals. They are a take on the letraset transfer idea with a Dada twist - a process that dates back to the beginning of the 20th century. Those piglet noses would make for a great lil envelope seal!

Kat MacLeod // Illustration

Tuesday, 22 September 2009

I've been an huge admirer of Australian illustrator Kat MacLeod's work for yonkies... her collages and mixing of fabrics and watercolours is scrumptious! Excited to have found this video showing some behind the scenes magic (making it look so easy too!):

Clemens Habicht // 100 Kites

Lovely looking exhibition at Lamington Drive Gallery in Melbourne at the moment... 100 kite collages of birds was the task & each piece in the exhibition is accompanied by a video of it in flight too. So beautiful... would love to take one out for a fly!
Clemens' other illustration work is great too... I think he quite likes birds!?

Patrick Winfield // Polaroid Composites

Polaroids galore by Patrick Winfield ... they would make your walls leap to life!
(you can get a similar effect by printing a tiled photograph on many pieces of paper and then lining them all up)

Ghostpatrol // Pencil Drawings

Also some adorable paper art too...
