Happy Día de los Muertos for this weekend... wishing I was in Mexico!

Mariachi Calaveras - Limited edition Gocco serigraph

Uppercase magazine > novel posters

Friday, 30 October 2009

Anyone looking for a weekend project?! this is a fun one. Though picking my favourite novel might take all weekend! Extremely loud and Incredibly close is definately up there... along with What I loved... and In the skin of a Lion... and The people of paper... yep, this could definately take all weekend!

Moon Rocks Magazine // Issue 5

hooray... another issue of Moon rocks entered the world today! This time it is the Sea issue - a salty beaker full of short fiction, illustration and stunning photography. Features an interview with the not-so-spritely marathon river swimmer Martin Strel who recently swam the amazon in 90 days with no nets and only his son in a little dingy alongside him! crazy nut-nut!

The moonrocks troupe have outdone themselves with a bigger and better than ever before issue... looking forward to scouring its pages in depth over the weekend... go find it here

Jan Reymonds // book arches

Stumbled on Jan Reymonds' amazing book sculptures while trundling through flickr.

The majority of these are part of "24 heures du livre" in Romainmôtier, Switzerland. Jan uses unsold books from the annual bookfair to create these magical arches and hanging sculptures at the nearby Romainmôtier Abbey Church. As far as I can tell there is a new one each year... next time i'm in that lovely part of the world i'm going to hunt them out! To read more about the installations go here (beautiful photos all by TimTom)

bookophile lights

loving these lights from margarita and ludwig over on Design Sponge today... perfect library glow bugs!

Maaret // promises like piecrust

Wednesday, 28 October 2009

I have fallen a bit in love with these collages by design student, Maaret of Visual Notes. They are inspired by the song 'promises like piecrust' (carla bruni) Dont' they look like they're alive still ... just going about their own cute lil thing (the crying dog brings a twitch to my eye)?!

Mariscal // Design Museum Exhibition

I don't know alot about Spanish designer Mariscal (yet) but his exhibition at the Design Museum in London looks so bright and fun and can't wait to go see it/play in it this weekend... He is responsible for the Barcelona Olympic mascot and also recognise him from this cookbook cover too... but his wealth of work looks to be spilling over the edges with character in this space so am hoping to discover many more treasures. There is a blog all about the exhibition and some great images of the setting up of it too... & aren't all these letters brilliant...

Blog World Wednesday > my daily reads

Sometimes the enormity of the blog world boggles my mind... there are so many wide eyed and talented people all over the place finding and posting up inspiring things or creating great new work. I find the list of blogs I'm admiring gets larger with every week and I feel as though soon it will fill all my days! I thought I should celebrate this...

So, stay tuned next week (and every wednesday thereafter) for inspiring links to other worlds and a few words from the mouth of the creator. To start off though I thought i'd show a few of my favourite daily peeks.

Mint ::: written by Durham (US) based print designer, Ellie Snow. Filled with lots of great print design, stationary, fashion, photography and some of her own lovely work from Hello Tenfold too.
Black Eiffel ::: written by Rachel, a designer and photographer from the USA. Filled with Interior design and decorations, Letterpress and stationary, Fashion and Photography.
and of course Design Sponge*::: (The very first blog I ever read I think) Grace and her team of creative folk always give us good things... DIY projects, City design guides, Sneek peeks into houses, guest posts and loads more... but you probably already knew that?!

Dolci Odille // wedding invitations

Wednesday, 21 October 2009

Dolci Odille's stationary is some of the most fun, adorable and creative I have seen yet. Their projects have popped up individually around the web and i've admired them many times before but didn't realise it was all the handiwork of just one husband and wife team! Then this morning Black Eiffel showcased some of their wedding decorations and I finally found their website... what a treat for a rainy thursday morning.
Their own wedding stationary
(& go have a look at the wonderful white paper pompoms)

Free wedding stationary

Dolci Odille's blog is full of fun too and see their work here
(all beautiful photography by Our Labour of Love)

Photography at Hello Tenfold

Hello Tenfold is the stationary shop run by the creator one of my favourite design refuges, Mint. Ellie has just added all these beautiful photos to her shop... I want to go there... to that place with the wild flowers and dreamy skies!
