Little Lion

Lately I've been struggling with the juggling act of bambino/work/life and sleeeeep*... and so sadly this dear space has felt the brunt of neglect. I have hope that as soon as our little fella learns to sleep (yep, apparently sleeping is a skill that needs to be taught!!) that things will be easier. In the meantime please forgive my absence and don't give up on me. pretty please.

This photo of the little lion man was taken last week, on a very welcomed mid-week getaway to the south coast with my own dearest mama.

* any tips from folks in the same boat would be very gratefully received

  1. Being childless I'm sorry I have no advice but those little cheeks are too gorgeous not to say anything. Sending you love and support from a stranger - hope it all starts to be a little easier soon!

  2. This photo is utterly delightful! In terms of sleep, we weren't willing to go the cry-it-out-for-hours route, but found that even just five minutes of fussing (ok, balling) in the crib did often help. Good luck with everything!

  3. What a sweetie!
You really will get a good nights sleep soon - I hope! My baby is 14 months, when he was 9 months, he kept waking up in the night for no reason. I tried this method for 3 nights http://tinyurl.com/7kocu98 and now he sleeps through every night. My friend had the same thing and did it for 2 nights. It is tough doing it, but the long term gain/sleep for both of you is worth it! Good luck!

  4. Sooo tough Emily! I promise it gets better. With our first we got a sleep whisperer to come to our house when she was 6 months old which was a revelation. I had been bouncing her to sleep on a ball every time! The lovely sleep whisperer said I wasn't giving her a chance to put herself to sleep. It was a lightbulb moment when I realised my job was to give her sleep skills, rather than settle her to sleep. This parenting stuff is hard work.

  5. Thankyou all so much for your comments. It makes my heart swell to hear other mumas (who i have never even met!) reaching out with kind and lovely words of help.

Steph - we too had a sleep whisperer come over the weekend and the same was true for our lil fella. 3 nights of 'sleep training' later (never leaving his side for more than a couple of minutes either) and he has now slept through 2 nights in a row... for the first time ever!! It's incredible!! Parenting really is the trickiest of jobs it's true :)
