Wrapping Papers and Prints // Printspace

Have you heard of Printspace? I bought one of their art prints at a Finders Keepers market before my cub was born (for his nursery) and thought no more about it. Then last week I fell for some divine wrapping paper and realised it was, ta da, these clever folks yet again. (In fact they make all manner of wonderful papery things)

I really love the colours and textures in these wrapping papers best of all... though sort of too nice to wrap with... wall hanging anyone?




Having said that, their abstract art prints are quite something too...

Pantone pairings

Perhaps these are not quite as glisteningly beautiful as the Pantone tarts I posted about here, but they are cute and clever in their own special way (and in my pre-dinner-tummy-growling state, rather appetising too!) They are the work of Minneapolis based designer, David Schwen and are available to buy as limited edition signed prints too.







p.s. the print below is for you, jon (king of the breakfast fry up). I find it hard to go past the classic ham and cheese combo myself. YUM!

Citta Design // Tokyo collection

It's been very rainy this week but I haven't minded it! My mum recently gave me this most gorgeous umbrella (which looks even better in real life) and Leo and I have been covered in wonderful colour (he loves it as much as me and giggles everytime we're using it) It's by Citta Design and on closer inspection I found that in fact all of their new Tokyo collection is pretty special... dangerously special!

Pantone tarts

These have done the rounds I know but they're so incredible I had to share too. Created by french foodie and colour enthusiast, Emilie, they are entirely edible tarts - but of course way too gorgeous to ever eat!

Colours and Patterns of Leah Duncan

The work of Leah Duncan is not a new find but one that re-discovering today made me appreciate all the more. I love the lines (which look so simple but I know are so hard to do well) and the colours she uses. The blue mountains pillow especially is tugging at my retail weak side!

Colour a plenty

I have lots to be smiling about of late... Fun and challenging work projects, little kicking feet inside my steadily growing belly and the feeling of winter slipping away and the summer shining on through!



The discovery of this great new blog last week was something to add to my list. Plenty of Colour is full of (as you'd imagine) incredible colourful things.... like the above asphalt painting in Berlin (photo by happy pixels) My favorite pieces though, are the sequin art artworks by Danish/Czech artist, Theresa Himmer. Imagine turning the corner to see that!!

Bucketloads of colour on The Design Files // Kate Banazi

If you haven't already checked out the guest blog on The Design Files this week then you must MUST must! Amazing things have been created and they all revolve around colour. Each day, illustrator Kate Banazi explores one great colour in all it's glory. Yellow, Red, Blue, Green & .... I can hardly wait to see what tomorrow brings!

In amongst all the wonderful yellows my heart and eyes rested on this Kat Macleod image (below right). Wow! At first I thought it was the profile of a japanese girl (the black being the hair), but then i saw the pencil. This happy accident makes it doubley good!

& his illustrations ain't too shabby either! Lovely stuff.

Colour inspiration

A few weeks ago my friend Zoe told me her cunning methods of coming up with colour combinations when designing... to raid the paint swatch stand at the hardware shop and keep them in a box for whenever you're feeling uninspired. It's such a fantastic trick and even just looking at them is making me want to make something brilliant and colourful (or just sift through their lovely bright painterly selves). On a wintery day like today it's like a box full of warm fuzzies!

A Yellow & Grey day

My eyes have a little mind of their own sometimes... a few weeks ago they were drawn to all things stripey and now anything yellow and grey. Maybe it's because winter is poking his face out here now and it's a sunny/cold colour combo... or maybe my eyes aren't that clever at all and it's just because they look so damn good together!
