A roadtrip to 'the castle'

Tuesday, 12 November 2013

Last weekend we snuck away (leaving the cub with his fabulous grandparents) and took a little roadtrip north to Newcastle in our fancy Ford Focus Titanium.

I've got to say, as much as we love our son to bits, it was pretty blissful having so much time to ourselves and not having to constantly chase after the little jumping bean. Day one, we swam and swam and floated and swam... in the sea, in ocean pools and in the 'bogey hole', in between having leisurely (and mess free) meals in cafes.

On day two the rains came in, so we wandered in and about the arty little shops of Cooks Hill and gawked at some Brett Whiteley masterpieces in the short (but rather sweet) Newcastle Art Gallery. How very civilised of us right?!!

We had an absolutely ace weekend... made all the better by zooming there in the comfort of our 'fancy silber car'.

Sadly this marks the end of my Ford adventures... We will miss it and I also fear that I have forgotten to drive in part - no more auto park or distance monitoring cruise control. uh oh!

This post is one of three written as part of Ford Australia's 'Choose Your Own Adventure' challenge (in conjunction with Kidspot, Voices of 2013). I was not paid to write this post nor was I told what to write. But, I was given a swish car to drive around in for 6 weeks which is proving pretty nice!

Home Sweet Home

Well Europe... As per usual you didn't disappoint. We stuffed ourselves with your camembert, marvelled at your age old buildings, oggled your art exhibitions, danced at your carnival, swam in your channel and generally soaked it all up until we could soak no more (including an all day visit to Peppa Pig world. yep, there is such a thing! It's amazing... according to the cub).

I will be sharing a few finds from London and Sweden over the next little while, aswell as some exciting giveaways in the wings.

I do so hope you haven't forgotten me?!

Hello and Happy 2013!

Tuesday, 15 January 2013

I took a little holiday from the internet for the past few weeks. Spent the time hanging out with my boys and splashing in various pools both salty and fresh. Twas divine and hectic in equal parts but always an adventure. Hope you all had a lovely festive time and are as excited about this year as I am! Lots of fun plans for this space and others this year so I hope you'll stick around to be a part of it all.

Images above of the little cub and I cooling off with yoghurt pops and paddling pools on one of Sydney's recent 42 degree furnace days! Oh my, its a task keeping a little person from overheating (and a big one too at that!)

Crumpled City Maps // Emanuele Pizzolorusso

I love this idea! Indesctructable/waterproof/scrunchable/no-fold city maps created by Emanuele Pizzolorusso... So simple yet such genius! I am constantly getting rips in creases of paper maps and though that is kind of charming to look at, it gets us very lost at times! When you're finished you just shove it back in its little bag. neat.

I like the look of the kiddies ones too. Even more incentive to travel with the little munchkins!

Not-All-Who-Wander-Are-Lost---Screen-Print-on-Vintage-Map---Florida

Had a cosy and wonderful weekend away in the Blue Mountains... logloads of fireside cosiness and many a scenic treat for our eyeballs (goodness it's a beautiful part of the world). As always, reminded us to escape more often!

This did however mean I missed Friday's twitterland links... so they'll be along soon in the form of monday links instead :)

Parisian Typography

Monday, 16 May 2011

After years of studying and working with Type, I still find it so utterly fascinating how fonts can be linked to moods and places so very much! They've really captured it in these beautiful videos for EF language schools.

This one makes me want to go to Paris... like right now!

Love is in the air(mail)

Thursday, 13 January 2011

Any excuse to send messages of love is a good thing in my book... even if Valentines Day is supposedly a giant evil marketing ploy la di da. These beauties would make even the most cynical heart flutter.

hello-foilcards

I do so hope everyone had a most wonderful New Year and Christmas time.

So many festivities, so much food and such alot of sunshine... what a great season twas twas! Now it's back to work and though in theory that sounds sad, I'm in fact immensely excited about what this year will bring. No uprooting countries or job huntings to be daunted by this time round... just a whole pocketful of fun projects and adventures in store. And new things for this here blog?! My brain is a tickin'.

Gocco printing day

Tuesday, 21 December 2010

My friend the Gocco was happy to be let loose the other day as Christmas card season came around in our house. Without him I would never have been able to use silver ink...Yumm. I promised that I would use him much more this year too... now that I have these lovely new inks (from Print Addict) there's no excuse!

Festive beginnings

Thursday, 2 December 2010

Being in the hot summer of Australia, it doesn't ever feel overly christmassy at this time of year. Having experienced my first 7 years all white and cosy in Switzerland, the beach and prawns (though amazing) just doesn't seem to cut the pudding in quite the same way!

BUT. As it's December now, I'm actively trying to find my festive spirit! Decorations will be made and mince pies consumed. I'm determined. These little treasures from In Haus Press have helped me along my way so far (despite the pinecones which we miss out on sadly)

Please forgive my absence from this here space... I've been terribly busy exploring beaches you see!! We've been down to Jervis bay (most beautiful place in the world) then up to Hamilton Island... & it's been heavenly.

Rain rain go away!

Saturday, 6 November 2010

Off on a little holiday this week down the south coast... I do so hope it stops raining though! This lovely little fellow makes rain seem not so bad after all!

Moving moving moving...

Sunday, 31 January 2010

Sorry for the lack of posts this week... we have been madly packing up our lovely little turquoise flat... said teary goodbyes to our friends, family and fishies and are leaving to move back to Australia later today (with enough time for a few dumplings in Hong Kong on the way through!yipee) Really sad to leave such a beautiful bunch of people behind but excited for the next chapter too!
Anyway, enough sentimentality... will be back on friday from sunny Sydney with photos and exciting pictures to show. Have a lovely week!!

Happy New Decade!!

Sunday, 3 January 2010

Am so sorry lovely readers for disappearing for so long... The last few weeks have zoomed by with celebrations galore and can now officially report I am a Mrs! Oh my! Had the most amazing wedding and am still in honeymooney-head mode (I will post a few more little pictures and details when have sorted them all out)
Hope everyone had a great fiesta season too and so looking forward to discovering lots more creative wonders this year for you to see...
